AOU regular memberships are $75 per year. A second regular membership from the same household qualifies as a family member, for an additional $28 per year. For family memberships receiving the journal The Auk: Ornithological Advances in print form, we provide only one copy of the journal per household.
Early Professional Membership (new in 2016)
AOU early professional memberships are $45 per year, available to individuals who are no longer students and have received their most recent (or final) degree within the past five years.
AOU student memberships are $28 per year, are available to any currently enrolled student, and may be renewed for up to five consecutive years, as long the individual retains their student or postdoctoral status.
Student Membership Award
The AOU encourages undergraduate and graduate students who have no prior membership in the AOU to apply for a complimentary one-year student membership award. This is a wonderful way for students to become involved in the AOU.
Emeritus/Retired Membership (expanded): The AOU offers a discounted membership rate of $28 per year for emeritus and/or retired individuals or anyone who has been an AOU member for at least 40 years. The AOU salutes your steadfast committment to the profession, and longstanding membership in the society!
Special Countries Membership: The AOU offers memberships to individuals of many countries around the world at the discounted rate of $28 per year. These memberships include only online subscriptions to The Auk: Ornithological Advances. Special Countries memberships are not offered to residents of the United States, Canada, Israel, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the following Western European countries: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.
The AOU offers a life membership for those interested in committing to the society and its mission for the long-term by contributing dues up front in a few, or a single, dues payment. Life memberships are $2,600 (either a one-time payment or in four installments of $650). Life memberships contribute directly to the AOU’s Council-designated General Endowment Fund.
