Login to the OSNA Member Portal to:

  • Apply for or renew your membership
  • Manage your membership profile information
  • Access and search the membership directory
  • Indicate your interest in serving on committees
  • View documents available only to members
  • Register for events and the annual meeting
  • Apply for grants and awards
  • Nominate colleagues for honors and awards, and vote in annual elections
  • Pay page charges when publishing in The Auk or The Condor, or order print copies of the journals

Memberships are from January 1 through December 31. Categories of membership are outlined below.

Regular Membership

AOS regular memberships are $85 per year. A second regular membership from the same household is an additional $30 per year. A household may receive at most one print copy of each AOS journal.

Early Professional Membership

AOS early professional memberships are $50 per year, available to individuals who are no longer students and have received their terminal degree within the past five years.

Student Membership

AOS student memberships are $30 per year, available to any currently enrolled student or postdoctoral fellow.

Student Membership Award

AOS encourages undergraduate and graduate students who have no prior membership in AOS to apply for a complimentary one-year student membership award, a wonderful way for students to get involved in the society.

Discounted Membership

Emeritus/Retired Membership: AOS offers a discounted membership rate of $30 per year for emeritus and/or retired individuals or anyone who has been an AOS member (previously an AOU or COS member) for at least 40 years. The society salutes your longstanding membership and steadfast committment to the profession!

Special Countries Membership: AOS offers memberships to individuals of many countries around the world at the discounted rate of $30 per year. Special Countries memberships are not offered to residents of the United States, Canada, Israel, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the following Western European countries: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

Life Membership

AOS offers a life membership for those interested in a sustained commitment to the society and its mission. Life memberships are $2,880 (either a one-time payment or four installments of $720) and require no annual renewal. Life memberships contribute directly to AOS’s Council-designated General Endowment Fund.
